The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced on June 1, 2020 upcoming enhancements to the Medicare Secondary Payment Recovery Portal (MSPRP). As readers may be aware, the MSPRP is a web-based tool designed to assist in the resolution of liability insurance, no-fault insurance, and workers’ compensation Medicare recovery cases. The July 13, 2020 enhancements are as follows:
- Addition of New View and Print Functionality for Correspondence on the MSPRP. Specifically, MSPRP users who login using Multi Factor Authentication will be able to view and print CMS mailed correspondence that is displayed on their “Letter Activity tab.”
- Additional information on how to use this new functionality will be available in Section 14.1.1.4 of the July version of the MSPRP User Guide.
What this potentially means for the workers’ compensation, no-fault and liability insurance entities is that they will now have the ability to view, print and download the same correspondence sent to the debtor assigned to the case. This will be a useful tool for adjusters to get the much-needed correspondence on their cases, particularly when prior information has not been previously received.
ECS will continue to monitor the newswire for additional comments from CMS about electronic portal payments. The MSPRP User Manual can be found at https://www.cob.cms.hhs.gov/MSPRP.
